Dr. Abdurrashid SANKA hailed from Kano State, Nigeria. He received his B.Eng Electrical (first class) in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Bayero University, Kano in 2011. He then got his master degree in Embedded Microelectronics and Wireless Systems from Coventry University, United Kingdom (UK) in 2014. He works as a lecturer at Bayero University, Kano since 2012. Dr. Sanka joined the CALAS group in 2017 for his Ph.D. in the Department of Electrical Engineering, City University of Hong Kong, and he received his Ph.D. degree in 2022.

His research interests include:
– Blockchain Technology
– Systems design and developments with FPGA
– Hardware and Information Security
– Embedded systems developments

Songyang LYU (Yang)

Dr. LYU Songyang received the B.Eng degree in 2016 from the School of Precision Instrument and Opto-Electronic Engineering, Tianjin Unversity, Tianjin. He is now a Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Electrical Engineering, the City University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Prof. Ray C. C. Cheung.

His research interest includes:
– Hardware implementation of ELM (Extreme Learning Machine) algorithms
– Hardware acceleration of computing and ASIP (Application-specific Instruction set processors)

Guangyan LI (Gavin)

Mr. Guangyan LI received the B.Eng degree in 2020 from the Department of Electrical Engineering, City University of Hong Kong. He joined the overseas internship scheme at the LIRMM in Montpellier, France from June to August of 2019.  He was a research-based FYP student under the supervision of Prof. Ray C. C. Cheung. He started his Ph.D. study in the CityU EE department in 2020/21.

His research interest includes:
– Reconfigurable computing with FPGA.
– Hardware and information security.
– Lightweight PQC cryptography.

Zhewen ZHANG (Candice)

Miss. ZHANG Zhewen received the B.Eng degree in 2020 from Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin. She is now a Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical Engineering, City University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Prof. Ray C. C. Cheung.

Muhammad Ashraf

Mr. Muhammad Ashraf received the B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Minia university faculty of engineering, Egypt, in 2017. He worked as a teaching assistant for two years and is on leave from the Electrical Engineering department at Minia University, Egypt. He is now a Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical Engineering, the City University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Professor Hong Yan and Prof. Ray C. C. Cheung.
His research interests include
– High-performance hardware acceleration of computing.
– ASIP (Application-specific Instruction set processors).
– FPGA implementation of tensor decomposition.

Mr. Lucas Zewen Ye received his bachelor’s degree in microelectronics science and
engineering from Zhejiang University (ZJU) in 2020. He is currently pursuing
the joint Ph.D. degree at the Intelligent Security and Ubiquitous Computing Lab (ISUC),
Zhejiang University (ZJU) and the CityU Architecture Lab for Arithmetic and Security
(CALAS), City University of Hong Kong (CityU), advised by Dr. Kejie Huang
and Prof. Ray C. C. Cheung.

His research interest includes:
– Cryptographic hardware design
– Deep learning hardware
– Security of RISC-V

Yuhan SHE(Henry)

Mr. Yuhan SHE received his bachelor’s degree from Zhejiang University (ZJU) majoring in Electrical Engineering in 2021. He is now a Ph.D. student at the City University of Hong Kong supervised by Prof. Yan Hong and Prof. Ray.

Zekai Zhang(Jerry)

Mr. Zekai Zhang received his B.Eng degree from University College London (UCL) in UK. He is a visiting student studying Electronic and Electrical Engineering since June 2021 in the CALAS group, and he is now a Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Prof. Ray C. C. Cheung.

His research interests including:
– AIoT Data Processing Method and Architecture
– FPGA system design

Peng JING (Jimmy)

Mr JING Peng received his B.Eng degree from the school of Microelectronics, Tianjin University (TJU), Tianjin in 2020. Then he received his master degree in TJU in 2023. He is now a Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical Engineering, City University of Hong Kong supervised by Prof. Yan Hong and Prof. Ray C. C. Cheung.

Mr. Zhuoheng RAN received his B.Eng. degree in Electronic Information Engineering from Tiangong University, Tianjin, China in 2021. Then, he received his master degree in Electronic Engineering from the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS), University of Southampton, United Kingdom in 2022. He has worked as a Research Assistant and is now a Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical Engineering, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR, China from 2023, under the supervision of Prof. Hong YAN and Prof. Ray C. C. Cheung.

Yanlong Huang (Leo)

Mr.Huang Yanlong received the B.Sc degree in 2017 and M.Sc degree in 2019 in Electrical Engineering major from University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMASS Lowell), Boston, USA. He then started to work as an Electrical Engineer in Hudson Light & Power in Boston. After gaining more experience and would like to dig deeper in the Digital Circuit Design area, he received his second M.Sc degree in Integrated Circuit Design Engineering (ICDE) in Sept.2022 in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). He is now a Ph.D. Candidate supervised by Dr. Ray C. C. Cheung in the Department of Electrical Engineering, City University of Hong Kong(CityU).

His research interests include:
– RISC-V processor design
– ASIC design on machine learning

Fengzhi CAI (Fred)

Ming Chi WONG (Wilson)

Mr. Wong Ming Chi received his BEng in Computer and Data Engineering from City University of Hong Kong in 2023.
He is now a Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical Engineering, City University of Hong Kong supervised by Prof. Ray C. C. Cheung.
He is also a Co-Founder and CTO of a start-up company GABES which focus on smart evacuation system using AIoT.
He is the Chair of IEEE CityU student branch in year 2023 and 2024.

Mr. Lyu received his dual bachelor’s degree in 2023. He obtained B.Sc degree in Electronics Engineering from KU Leuven (KUL), Belgium, and B.Eng degree in Microelectronics Science and Engineering from South China University of Technology (SCUT), China. He is now a Ph.D. student in the Department of Computer Science, City University of Hong Kong, supervised by Prof. Weitao Xu and Prof. Ray C. C. Cheung.
