Dr. Patrick Hung, Stanford PhD, joining the next CALAS research meeting

We welcome Dr. Patrick Hung, CALAS Advisor, in our group meeting. Dr. Hung has continuously given support and advice to our team for years. He received his bachelor from HK, and PhD from Stanford University. He was previously consulting faculty at Stanford University and is currently co-director of the joint laboratory between Stanford Computer Architecture & Arithmetic Group (SCAAG) and Shandong Academy of Information and Communication Technology (SAICT).

Mehdi and Sanka’s papers accepted for international conferences

One of the papers of Mr. Mehdi Hasan Chowdhury has got accepted in the IEEE EMB Healthcare Innovations and Point of Care Technologies (HIPT ’19) conference. Mehdi is now a Year 2 Ph.D. student working on FPGA based Biosignal Processing. The tile of his accepted paper is “Point-of-Care EMG Processor for the Differential Diagnosis of Neuropathy and Myopathy.” The conference is scheduled in November 20-22, 2019 in Maryland, USA.

Year 3 Ph.D. student Mr. Abdurrashid Ibrahim Sanka’s paper “Blockchain: Panacea for Corrupt Practices in Developing Countries” is accepted in the 2nd International Conference of the IEEE Nigeria Computer Chapter (IEEEnigComputConf’19).  Sanka’s Ph.D. research is focused on blockchain, high-performance network computation, and edge computing. He will present the paper in Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria on October 14-17, 2019.

Dr Yu, PhD Imperial College London, visiting CALAS

Today we have our CALAS former Postdoc alumni, PhD in Imperial College London, Dr. YU visiting our office in EE department. Now he is a system engineer from Syner wealth technology and gave CALAS members an invaluable information about current development of FPGA in the financial and Fintech industry.

Xilinx techical staff visit CityU-Xilinx joint Laboratory and give a talk to CALAS

Today we have two technical staff from Xilinx visiting the joint laboratory in EE department and giving CALAS members an informative talk about current development and diverse application of Xilinx FPGA. CALAS students also acquire an overview of the next generation FPGA and get more familiar with the chip they use. Thanks for the opportunity.
